Host the Decennial Phoenix Flies

January 10, 2013

Individuals are cordially invited to help celebrate the 1 The Decennial Phoenix Flies: A City-Wide Celebration of Living Landmarks from March 9-24, 2013.

This spring the Atlanta Preservation Center will mark the 10th presentation of Phoenix Flies. Did you know that during Phoenix Flies’ history that it has presented upwards of 775 events and provided more that 15,000 free opportunities for individuals to experience Atlanta’s living landmarks?!

To mark the 10th anniversary of this yearly celebration, we are growing the size of the event by nearly 20%, introducing official tours of the LP Grant Mansion, and commissioning a major art project. There will be 180+ events that will provide close to 4,500 opportunities to attend free events. Included in this number are new guided tours of the 1856 Grant Mansion, our home which has undergone extensive stabilization and reconstruction. The Mansion’s Drawing Room Gallery will host an exhibition of the Phoenix Flies Anniversary Photography Project. For this project, we have commissioned eight Atlanta fine art photographers to make images of the sites presented during Phoenix Flies. These images will be presented in the Phoenix Flies’ catalog of events, on APC’s website, at an exhibition in the Drawing Room Gallery and in an anniversary art book.

You are invited to be a larger part of this decennial year by becoming a Host Committee member with a contribution of $100, or considering personal support at a higher level.
