On Thursday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m. the Atlanta Preservation Center and M.H. Mitchell Inc. will present the final installment in its Civil War Lecture Series. This lecture will cover Civil War photography with expert and collector David Wynn Vaughan featuring original photographs from his personal collection. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be held in the circa-1856 Lemuel Pratt Grant Mansion.
Vaughan’s images have graced the covers of major books and publications such as Time-Life, National Geographic, Mercer Press, University of Arkansas Press,Georgia Historical Quarterly, Atlanta Journal Constitution, and The New York Times. Vaughan has also appeared on GPTV’s Treasures in your Attic and PBS’s History Detectives. He has co-curated five Civil War image exhibits with Georgia-based museums with selected images from his collection. At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 25 images from his collection were showcased in an exhibition entitled Photography and the American Civil War.
