We are pleased to announce that the Atlanta Preservation Center’s Phoenix Flies: A Celebration of Atlanta Historic Sites has been accepted by the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs Power 2 Give Program.
The City of Atlanta’s Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs is now in its second fiscal year of using Power 2 Give to fund arts and culture programing in the City. The Power 2 Give program is a web based donation platform where private donations are matched dollar for dollar by public money. It was developed and is maintained by Arts & Science Council of Charlotte, South Carolina. According to their website this program “empowers you to give directly to local arts, science and history projects you are passionate about…”
So, from now until mid-January, you can become a host of one of Atlanta’s most wonderful events! People say “it’s a great service to the City!”
The Atlanta Preservation Center’s Phoenix Flies: A Celebration of Atlanta’s Historic Sites gives Atlanta 16 days to enjoy and learn about the buildings, neighborhoods and landscapes that make her unique. The 250 free events at more than 80 sites include tours of history and the art of architecture, exhibits of photography, music and storytelling to name a few. All these places are home of Atlanta’s artists and the cauldron of Atlanta’s culture. Here is some more about the Celebration.
This annual event is free to attendees and participants. The Atlanta Preservation Center raises funds to produce the event by writing grants, getting sponsorships and by asking for private donations. The first and last sources are where Power 2 Give comes in.
By choosing to donate through Power 2 Give, you “support (yes, we know “kill” usually goes here, but work with us) two birds with one stone.” You become a host of an award winning, fabulous and singular celebration AND you direct the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs to do the same.
