Landmark and Historic Districts Group

The Mission of the Landmark and Districts Group is to provide an effective collective voice for the City of Atlanta’s Historic and Landmark Districts. This group convenes under the umbrella of Atlanta Preservation Center with representatives from each Historic and Landmark District.

The Group meets monthly, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. It has a standing annual meeting with the Atlanta Urban Design Commission's Executive Director, Urban Planner or Principal. Additionally, the Group meets with the Commissioner of Planning and Community Development as needed.

The major concern and focus of the Group is zoning and code enforcement. It continues to advocate for the creation of a dedicated inspector position for Landmark and Historic districts. If you are aware of zoning and code enforcement issues they should be reported to the Atlanta Urban Design Commission.

In early 2011, Sunset Avenue, which is in Vine City west of Downtown, was designated as a Historic District and welcomed to the Landmark and Districts Group.
